McCarthyism at its finest. These Neocon scare tactics makes me ill. Republicans have left us a disaster that will take decades to clean up. Throw the bums out! Go Obama! ~Brad
I think Brad hit the nail on the head. Blatant scare tactics from the neocons. I had to force myself to watch the whole thing this time, and it got more and more absurd as it went on. I also find it ironic that they use Ted Kennedy (wonder what his BAC was?) and John Edwards as counterpoints to Obama. I thought those liberal democratic types were the anti-christ? I guess only when they aren't useful in manufacturing your point. Speaking of the dark lord, any argument that is supported by ann coulter is pretty suspect in my book. It's this kind of malignant hate and fear brokering that is destroying this country from the inside.
Not to harp on cliches, but what happened to the Ronald Regan republicans? We need more Alex P Keatons and less ignorant assholes running this country. Or how about just more democrats.
Since Dana asked me to incorporate my trademark profanity, I will close with the immortal words of the prolific Eric Cartman: "Big Floppy Donkey Dick"
The silliness of this video speaks for itself. But while it displays plenty of ignorance (can America elect a man with three Islamic names?) and irrelevance (he won't wear a flag pin!), I honestly didn't pick up on a whole lot of hatred. To me, your title "Hate on The Internet" seems about as exaggerated as statements made in the video. Cheers!
Can't fear-mongering be considered hateful - especially when those who produce the film intentionally exploit the ignorant fear that already exists thanks to the current administration and associated press? Fear has created hate.
I guess I think of hate as something stronger: Palestine-Israel, Serbia-Croatia, Nephites-Lamanites, Yankees-Red Sox. The guy who made the video doesn't believe Obama is a good racial, religious, political or patriotic fit for the office of President, and while many may find those criteria and conclusions distasteful, insensitive or absurd, I think it's a stretch and counterproductive to label them hateful. Millions of others are willing to apply the same criteria to conclude that Obama is a great fit, and I wouldn't ascribe the difference to love or hate.
Then again, I'm a guy who doesn't consider comments like "throw the bums out" and "ignorant assholes running this country" to be hateful either -- it's all part of the political discourse in a democracy. In any event, I believe most Americans are able to shrug off the video for the simplistic drivel that it is. That helps explain why it has been viewed 2.1 million times but favorited only 118 times. There aren't as many actual subscribers, so to speak, as one might fear.
I find the notion that he isn't fit to be president because his middle name is "Hussein" or that he went to a school in Jakarta pretty hateful. That's more than just political discourse.
I do agree that it is simplistic crap, and that thankfully it hasn't gone anywhere. Unfortunately, simplistic, reductionist, ignorance started many of the world's great tragedies. All it takes is for good people to let the ball get rolling.
I won't apologize for calling the neocon power base ignorant assholes. The amount of hate that spews forth from their mouthes continues to astonish me on a daily basis.
